Cost estimates on the new Appleton downtown library project have skyrocketed. The latest figure is 39-million dollars–compared to the 26-point-four million the city initially planned to borrow for the project. Sharp increases in the costs of steel and other construction materials are blamed. The Appleton Finance Committee will review the cost estimates on Monday.
