Those who want to hold special events in Winnebago County park facilities will be paying higher permit fees. The County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approves the revision of park codes raising the price of special event permits. Those would cover sporting events, parades, and festivals with special requirements. County Supervisor Steven Binder supports the change as a money saver for the county.
Supervisor Koby Schellenger agrees with having event organizers defray more of the preparation and clean up costs. However, he says the code needs more clarification.
The park code special permit revisions passed unanimously on a voice vote with Supervisor Schellenger casting the only “no” vote.
