APPLETON, Wis. — You will no longer be required to wear a face covering on Valley Transit buses.
The announcement comes after a federal judge struck down the Biden administration’s mandate for face masks on transportation due to COVID-19.
Riders will will no longer be required to wear masks on buses or inside the Transit Center.
“Valley Transit is committed to being welcoming and safe for all riders and will continue to have safety measures in place including enhanced cleaning, driver barriers and bus air purification systems. Everyone may now choose whether they want to wear a mask. Please note, the CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings,” reads a statement from Valley Transit.
Green Bay Metro also announced that face masks are no longer required on public transportation.
Valley Transit and Green Bay Metro says riders may choose to wear a mask if they like and that riders who are sick are encouraged to stay home.
Effective immediately, Valley Transit will follow the TSA in ending its mask requirement. This change means masks will no longer be required on buses or inside the Transit Center.

Airport Masking
Austin Straubel officials say that TSA will no longer enforce masking at the airport.
Airlines and carriers, however, will be allowed to require masking if circumstances require it.
Air passengers are urged to check with their airlines to see whether masking is required.
