WAUPACA, Wis–A Waupaca County man is charged with arson following the discovery of a dead body inside a burned out house. Steven Eggert is also charged with Mutilation of a Corpse,the Straw Purchase of a Firearm, Armed Burglary, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
According to the criminal complaint, Eggert discovered a person dead inside the house outside of Iola back on April 27th. That person had previously purchased guns for Eggert–who is a convicted felon.
After making calls to several people, Eggert reportedly decided to burn down the house because he believed he would be blamed for the death. He faces up to 205-years in prison if convicted.
