OSHKOSH, Wis. — An East Coast family making their journey to EAA AirVenture didn’t expect a furry stowaway to join them.
Jason and Andrea Scholten, from St. Albans, Maine, were halfway through their drive to Oshkosh, when they stopped in Toledo to camp for the night. When Jason opened the door to their pop-up camper, a familiar — furry — face was looking back at him.
“It wasn’t joy at first. I was wondering, what are we going to do?” shared Jason. “We are 900 miles from home and we have our cat.”
Delilah the family cat had snuck into the camper while they were packing up to leave. After her discovery, Jason moved her to the family vehicle to make the rest of the drive to Oshkosh.
“The fact that she survived 15 hours in a closed up camper was my biggest concern,” Jason shared. “What a story.”
Now enjoying the annual fly-in, Jason says that Delilah is doing well and has adjusted quickly to AirVenture life.
“She loves watching the airplanes going by and is a great camper cat, ” he shared.
Jason and Andrea started the hashtag #stowawayoshkoshcat on social media so you can follow along with Delilah’s adventures. They do hope to return to AirVenture in 2023 and just might bring Delilah along.
