SHAWANO, Wis–The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office releases more information on last week’s bonfire explosion. About 60 people attended the celebration of Pulaski High School’s homecoming.
Twenty of them came forward and provided information to investigators. The sheriff’s office reiterates that it will not take action regarding underage drinking.
Witnesses have told investigators that the explosion was caused by someone rolling a 55-gallon drum container that was about a quarter full of a gas/diesel mix into the flames.

The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department was informed of the incident around 1:10 a-m when Green Bay Police notified them about burn victims coming to hospitals there for treatment. No one in attendance called 9-1-1.
The office will also not be releasing the names of those involved.
Four people remain hospitalized in burn centers in Wisconsin. Some of them remain in critical condition.
