APPLETON, Wis–Appleton residents now have clearer directions for planting flowers or vegetables in the terraces on their properties adjacent to city streets. The Appleton Common Council approves modifications to the street terrace policy.
The policy defines what types of plants are permissible and sets height limits. Plantings are also limited to so-called “vision triangles”, which ensure drivers pulling out of driveways can see approaching traffic on the street.
Alder Kristin Alfheim believes the updated policy aids property owners and motorists alike.
Plants over three-feet tall, loose sand or gravel and paving is not allowed under the updated “street terrace policy”.
