SHAWANO, Wis. — Criminal charges are pending against two teenagers allegedly involved in last month’s bonfire explosion in Shawano County.
The sheriff’s office is recommending charges of Second-Degree Reckless Injury and Injury by Negligent Handling of Fire against a 17-year-old Green Bay boy and a 16-year-old Pulaksi boy. Charges are also pending against the owner of the home where the explosion took place.
The incident happened on Oct. 14 during a celebration of Pulaksi High School’s homecoming. Investigators say a mixture of diesel fuel and gasoline was thrown on the fire.
Several people were burned as a result.
