FDL Sheriff’s deputies, plow drivers move deep snow on rescue call

TOWN OF ALTO — Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies, highway department plow drivers and Town of Alto Fire fighters move mountains of snow to rescue a man who severed two fingers clearing his driveway. Deputies, fire fighters and Guardian Ambulance EMT’s were dispatched to a residence in the Town of Alto for a Christmas Day call of 70-year-old man who lost two fingers while using a snow blower. Upon arrival, Deputy Andrew Jagdfeld found the victim’s 800-foot long driveway buried by several feet of snow. Jagdfeld called to see whether a Fond du Lac County snowplow was in the area. Plow operator Gary Lawson responded immediately as deputies made their way through the snow with med bags to reach the victim. Lawson cleared the driveway while a second operator, Dave Tavs, arrived and helped cleared the deep drifts formed by high winds. The joint effort took about 15-minutes and allowed the Guardian ambulance to get to the residence and transport the victim to a local hospital. The man’s condition is not known at this time.
