OSHKOSH, Wis. — The defense begins calling witnesses to testify in the trial of a former Oshkosh West High School student accused of stabbing a police resource officer.
Grant Fuhrman is charged in Winnebago County Court with Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide.
Fuhrman allegedly stabbed Officer Mike Wissink with a barbecue fork in his school office back in December of 2019.
On Wednesday, Fuhrman’s mother, Tina Kintoph, testified about how he struggled with the death of his grandfather the month before the attack as well as the death of his biological father by suicide. She also testified about Fuhrman’s fear of fire trucks and ambulances.
“He would just shake and get very emotional when he would see things like that,” Kintoph said.
“Do you know what that was, that he would be fearful of fire trucks and ambulances?” she was asked.
“Probably because he saw my husband being taken out of the house in a body bag, maybe? And he was afraid that they were going to take me away, maybe?” she replied.
Kintoph was also asked about medication Fuhrman was prescribed to help him focus in school. She said he took it on and off since starting grade school because of adverse side effects.
Fuhrman faces up to 80 years in prison if convicted.
