APPLETON, WI — Bond is set at $2-million cash for a suspect in an Appleton cold case murder. Gene Meyer makes his initial appearance in Outagamie County Court on one count of First Degree Murder. Meyer is accused of killing Betty Rolf and leaving her body under a road overpass in Grand Chute back in November of 1988. Meyer was arrested in Washington state last month after investigators used familial D-N-A to connect Meyer to the crime scene. He will return to court February 28 for a preliminary hearing. If convicted, Meyer would face life in prison.
