Appleton child sex offender captured in Texas

LUBBOCK, TX — A convicted child sex offender from Appleton is captured in Texas. Paul Schmidt is arrested in Lubbock, Texas this morning by the U.S. Marshal’s Service. Schmidt’s arrest comes just over a month after Appleton Police reported that he’d broken probation and left the area. He had been spotted in Green Bay after leaving Appleton. Schmidt pled no contest in 2004 to two charges of First Degree Sexual Assault of a child. He was sentenced to eight years in prison and 20-years probation.
