Almost 1.1 million people in Wisconsin are expected to travel over the Thanksgiving holiday.
AAA Wisconsin made that projection, and it’s up 3.4 percent from last year. Nationally, it’s expected to be the busiest Thanksgiving for travel in 12 years.
AAA spokesman Nick Jarmusz says they think a record number from the state will fly somewhere this year. He says nearly 90 percent, or about 945,000, will still drive. He anticipates that highways will be very busy, especially in metro areas.
The survey asked people if they’ll travel more than 50 miles.
Jarmusz says gas prices are lower than earlier this month, but they’re the highest for Thanksgiving since 2014.
