We are about to enjoy the long Memorial Day weekend. Long in that many of us will get an extra day off on Monday. The weather looks great, the menu is ready for the grill and maybe there’s some golf tossed in for good measure. But we should not forget why we get this extra day off.
Memorial Day honors those who have died while serving our country in the United States military. There will be parades, ceremonies at cemeteries, processions and remembrances, many of which happen here in Appleton and around the region. Don’t hesitate to extend your gratitude to those who have fallen, giving the ultimate sacrifice. They lost their lives in an effort to ensure the freedoms we enjoy every day…and should never be forgotten.
