A report on domestic violence in the LGBTQ community shows the state follows national trends.
It found 22 percent were physically abused, and 40 percent verbally.
Kathy Flores of Appleton is with Diverse and Resilient. She says they did the survey in Appleton, Green Bay, Milwaukee and Madison. She says what they saw was pretty typical of what’s happening around the country. Flores says they did find that less people in the area sought anti-violence services.
Flores says that may be because shelters were traditionally targeted at heterosexual women in abusive relationships with men. She says many of the programs now serve everyone.
