MADISON, Wis–The Wisconsin Supreme Court has overturned Republican drawn legislative maps and has ordered the Legislature to draw new ones. The ruling this afternoon comes in a lawsuit filed by Democrats and affiliated political action groups challenging the maps on the basis of gerrymandering.
Earlier this fall, the Republican-controlled Legislature approved a bill that would have created a non-partisan commission to draw new districts, but that was vetoed by Governor Tony Evers.
