Dave Edwards and It’s Just my take 1-26-24
It’s never easy to admit that the season’s over, but it is.
The Packers, after a stumbling start to the season, righted it in time to make the playoffs, whip the Cowboys but fail in the 4th quarter and lose to the 49ers on Saturday night, ending their season. Dropped interceptions, missed kicks, poor tackling and some dubious officiating again contributed to the loss. Brass tacks though–you really failed when you needed it most, in the 4th quarter.
A sputtering offense was forced to turn to Anders hold-your-breath Carlson, who missed his 13th kick of the season, which may be his only season in the NFL. Then, a recently reliable QB who had been outstanding in the past month-plus failed to make the big plays necessary to win the game or force O.T. Oft-injured Christian Watson had just one catch, one more than Dontavion Wicks, who has emerged with huge catches of late. Along with Romeo Dobbs, who was busy early but not late … when the game was on the line, your big stars did not shine.
There’s tons to look forward to: the NFL draft in April, a young team growing up a bit into 2024 and beyond and training camp in July is in a galaxy that’s not that far away….
