APPLETON, Wis–A Grand Chute Town Board member will be allowed to argue that he was acting in good faith when he goes on trial for bidding on, and winning, a contract with the town. Supervisor Ron Wolff is charged in Outagamie County Court with one felony count of Private Interest in a Public Contract.
Wolff’s attorney, Nathan Otis, will be allowed to argue that the Town Attorney Charles Koehler did not warn Wolff that his securing a contract to clear the banks of the pond outside the Champions Center after taking office in 2021 would violate the law……………..
Otis adds that former Town Administrator James March also did not raise objections during the approval process………..
In a civil lawsuit, Wolff claims March “set him up” for criminal charges. State Department of Justice Attorney Nathaniel Adamson says Wolff should have known the law regardless………
Wolff’s case is still scheduled for trial on February 28th.
