GREEN BAY, Wis. — Guilty on all charges. Those are the verdicts against Richard Sotka in the deaths of his girlfriend, Rhonda Cegelski, and her friend, Paula O’Connor, at Cegelski’s home on Elkay Lane in Green Bay in January of 2023.
The jury handed down those verdicts late Monday afternoon in Brown County Court.
Sotka is convicted on two counts of First-Degree Intentional Homicide for both Cegelski and O’Connor and multiple counts of bail jumping in the case.
The jury began deliberations after both the defense and the prosecution rested their cases Monday morning. Sotka’s attorney did not call any witnesses, and Sotka chose not to take the stand in his own defense.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 20. Sotka faces two mandatory life terms.
