Dave Edwards and It’s Just my Take 3-15-24
A few takes from last Sunday night’s Academy Awards:
Don’t put old codgers in charge of the most important award of the night! We haven’t learned from the Warren Beatty debacle where he announced the wrong winner? Sending out relic Al Pacino to mumble his way through NOT announcing the nominated movies for Best Picture to say “my eyes see Oppenheimer”, which totally threw everybody off and gave the award the pizzazz of a bologna sandwich!
Also, the In Memoriam section of the show should be classy and about those we’ve lost, not about a sideshow that reduced the screen to a cringe-worthy squintathon! Oh, and then reducing some of the passings to a laundry list that was hard to read and seemed to minimize their loss was another bone-headed move!
Oh, and then there’s the appearance, sans clothes, of John Cena. There to present an award for best costume, John’s only “costume” was the envelope for that award. Good thing he wasn’t presenting the award for best animated short film!
