Dave Edwards–Bring on the Bikes
7-10-24
I really enjoy hopping on my bike and going for a long ride on a beautiful summer day in Wisconsin. Unless it’s the first time I’ve been on my bike since last year!
You know how your body feels when you enjoy a sporting event you haven’t done in a while…it’s kinda painful! Sure, the pain is temporary, but at my age, my body already has enough aches and pains for two bodies!
My wife urged me this weekend to get the bikes out and go, so we did. Our general plan was to bike about 6 or 7 miles to a little bar & grill that we enjoy, have a bite, then head back home on a different route. Our plan changed when we didn’t check ahead to find that the bar had given its staff the holiday weekend off! No sammy and a cold one there!
So, we hopped back aboard with semi-sore backsides to head to Plan B. We had success with a BLT and a frosty mug, then back on the bikes to eventually head home. The detour had added another mile or two, so we were starting to get a little tired…and sore.
All is well as I’m sure that ride number two will come with built-in soreness resistance…which sounds kinda weird. I guess it all depends on how long we wait before we take that next ride!
