STURGEON BAY, Wis. — Sturgeon Bay police warn about scammers claiming to be with a major motion picture studio.
Police say on July 17, two men went to a local business saying they’re working for Paramount Pictures on a movie project and needed old electrical equipment for props. They left a flyer with a list of the types of machinery they were seeking and a cellphone number.
Police say the two men parked well away from the business, making it hard to identify the vehicle they were driving.
A Sturgeon Bay police officer tried the cell number, which turned out to be invalid.
