The Madison Catholic Diocese issues a statement regarding the arrest of one of its priests in Clintonville. Father Andrew Showers was taken into custody on Sunday night after allegedly coming to Clintonville to have sex with a 14-year old girl.
The Madison Diocese says they were not aware of any prior sexual misconduct accusations against Showers. He has been restricted from practicing any public ministry while the case is pending against him.
Showers formerly served as a priest at All Saints Church in Berlin and Our Lady of the Lake in Green Bay from 2022 to 2023.

CLINTONVILLE, Wis. — Clintonville police arrest a Madison-area priest who traveled to Clintonville to allegedly meet with a 14-year-old girl for sexual activity.
Clintonville police received information about the planned meetup and took 37-year-old Andrew Showers into custody just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
A check of the Diocese of Madison website lists Showers as the diocesan Director of Worship.
Showers is being held in the Waupaca County Jail on allegations of child enticement, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child.
The case has now been referred to the Waupaca County District Attorney’s Office for a charging decision.
