MENASHA, Wis. — Menasha police issue a warning about invoices claiming to come from the city’s Community Development Department.
Scam emails to residents and businesses request wire transfers for large sums of cash.
Police say the emails include the Menasha city logo and real street addresses. But a check of the email address shows it ending in @usa.com. These are not legitimate and should not be paid. Police recommend anyone receiving such invoices to check the senders email address. City of Menasha emails end in @menashawi.gov.
Unusual payment methods, wire transfers, gift cards and wire transfers should be considered red flags.
And fees can be verified directly with the city through calls or on the Menasha city website.
