OSHKOSH, Wis. — “Take what you need, leave what you can.”
A mutual aid, community driven initiative addressing food insecurity returns to the Oshkosh area.
The Hope Fridge, a public fridge, freezer, and pantry, will be located outside Trinity Episcopal Church on 203 Algoma Blvd in Oshkosh.
The goal of the Hope Fridge is to provide a safe, easily accessible place where anyone can receive food and community members can donate items.
“This fridge is more than food— it’s a lifeline. It bridges gaps for people who struggle with access and helps ensure neighbors have something to eat in between paychecks or when food pantries are closed,” shares TJ Hobbs, Hope Fridge Co-Founder.
The grand reopening of the Hope Fridge takes place Thursday, October 2 at 9 a.m.
How can I support the Hope Fridge?
- Fresh produce such as bananas, oranges, apples, and vegetables
- Ready-to-eat or grab-and-go meals and snacks
- Pastries, baked goods, and bread
- Cheeses, yogurt, pasteurized eggs, and pasteurized milk
- Cured sandwich meats, Lunchables, fruit snacks, and granola bars
- Frozen dinners
- Fruit juices, water, and sports drinks
- Cooking oils (no glass containers)
- Homemade meals (must follow safe preparation guidelines, include ingredient labels, and date made)
- Prepared meals from commercial kitchens (must include ingredient labels and date made)
The Hope Fridge returns thanks to a strong coalition of community partners – including Trinity Episcopal Church, First Congregational Church, Solutions Recovery, Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services, Algoma Blvd United Methodist Church, Winnebago County Public Health, and many other caring neighbors.
