OSHKOSH, Wis. — The Oshkosh Police Department is investigating a pair of disturbances involving firearms during Saturday night’s “Pub Crawl.”
The first incident was reported around 11:10 p.m. Officers responded to the area of Scott Avenue and Cherry Street for multiple calls of several males with firearms and pointing them at people in the area.
A responding officer attempted to contact one of the suspects who resisted and attempted to grab something out of the front of his pants. The suspect was eventually restrained and taken into custody. A loaded handgun was located under his body.
He’s identified as a 17-year-old from Neenah and is facing weapons, resisting/obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct charges.
A second incident in the 800 block of Scott Avenue involving 100 people took place while officers were still on the scene of the first incident.
An officer was knocked to the ground and sustained a head injury and hospitalized.
A state trooper on the scene recognized a suspect in a battery complaint who had a handgun. The suspect took off on foot and was captured a short time later. He’s identified as a 20-year-old Ripon man who’s being held on a probation hold.
Police say the man is believed to have dropped a grey and black backpack during the chase.
Residents in the 700-800 blocks of Scott, Wooland and Prospect are asked to check their backyards for that backpack and contact Oshkosh police at 920-236-5700.
