APPLETON, Wis. — The future management of the Fox Cities Exhibition Center is in question. Back in July, the Hilton Paper Valley Hotel notified the city of Appleton that it was terminating its current management agreement, opening up negotiations on a new deal.
Mayor Jake Woodford says those negotiations continue with a just a few weeks left until the current contract ends………..
The city has offered a number of concessions to Hilton in a new contract, including: committing up to $800,000 in improvements next year, exclusive food contracts, creation of a special revenue fund to cover future repairs and improvements, and waiving the facility’s $25,000 annual payment in lieu of property taxes.
Mayor Woodford is adamant the city will not operate the expo on its own………….
Construction of the Fox Cities Exhibition Center is funded by room taxes collected in 11 surrounding municipalities.
