APPLETON, Wis. — The Appleton Police Department says video purporting to show Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in the city is actually a drug task force. The video circulating on social media claims ICE agents and local officers are conducting raids in the Fox Cities.
The statement from the police department says the officers depicted are actually members of the Lake Winnebago Metropolitan Enforcement Group, which targets the drug trade.
The post adds that Appleton police officers do not take part in federal immigration enforcement efforts.
