Dave Edwards and So, How’s your Week Going? 3-4-26
Have you ever had a life-changing experience that made you have to alter your diet? I certainly have and I’m here to tell you about it!
If you’ve caught the show lately, you know I had a serious heart issue and after surgery, the doctors initially said “go ahead, eat anything for now to get your strength back”. Well, it’s time for the cows to come home, and I’m not going to be eating them as often!
My wife, after doing her research on what I SHOULD be eating after this surgery, recently started her due diligence to clear out our kitchen. We are not wasting food, but once the current supply of beef, ribs, processed foods, brats, cereals, etc is gone…it’s outta here!
As an example, I have been…enjoying….a cup of Greek yogurt topped with an assortment of grains, most of which I’ve never seen before. Think back to the Grape Nuts days, where it took you an hour to eat one bowl of the stuff! Delightful…for tree bark. Soon to be gone will be most of my seasonal salts, or any salt for that matter. Gone will be most sauces, the use of butter(damn!) and a significant reduction in large portions of…anything!
I keep hearing how wonderful the Mediterranean diet is, with its nuts, dates, fish, legumes, etc. If I get really tired of this upcoming diet change, I may end up there as one of those crazy people that run with the bulls. At least I’ll be close to the beef.
