DE PERE, Wis. — An elderly woman is injured after being hit by a train in De Pere.
Police say the woman, who is in her 80s, fell while trying to walk across the rail crossing near Grant Street Wednesday afternoon and was not able to get up.
Witnesses were trying to come to her aid when a train came by and struck her. The engineer spotted the woman and was attempting to slow down at the time.
She was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. A condition update has not been released.
