Well that sure was interesting, wasn’t it?
I had gone on the record during my Election Day special predicting a 9-12 point win for Chris Taylor.
Not because she was overly impressive and not because I thought Lazar was uniquely bad… to be honest, I think she was probably the lesser of the 2 partisans, at least based on how they presented themselves.
No, I knew we were in for a pretty big blow out Election Night because, like it or not, these candidates are associated with political parties, and the party that has the trifecta right now has dropped the ball- HARD. This election reflected that.
Turns out my prediction was almost 10 full points off- Honestly, I’m not sure why any of you listen to my show. Clearly, I have no idea what I’m talking about.
I am not ignorant. I KNOW the Supreme Court Justices have nothing to do with affordability, new wars, or the masked, talentless bully army. The average voter however isn’t thinking that way.
Whether you’re a Democrat, an Independent, or a introspective Conservative, there’s not a lot to hang your hat on over the last 15 months.
Voters are worried about efforts to overturn the election. Voters are nervous about access to abortions. Voters are fed up on the state level when it comes to GOP control.
These are not MY opinions, by the way, it’s the way you hear people talking.
This is the 4th consecutive win for a Liberal justice (3rd since I’ve moved out here), and each margin has been bigger than the last.
That’s not a coincidence, and no, it’s not voter fraud. It’s a rejection of the path that we are on.
You see calls online for the Wisconsin GOP chair Brian Schimming to be replaced. You see people blaming the candidates. You see people blaming the voters (my BIGGEST pet peeve). You don’t see anyone questioning the strategy, you see people questioning the tactics.
Now this IS my opinion, we’re going to learn a lot about whether or not there is any interest in moderating over the next 7 months.
I don’t mean moving to the center, I mean moderating. Whether we’re talking about housing, healthcare, child care, eldercare, marijuana legalization, abortion access, and so many other topics that we discuss regularly on my show, the center doesn’t always mean what people think it means.
Elections in the 2020s are no longer about driving more people to the polls, it’s about hoping less people show up for the other team.
In 2024, Donald Trump didn’t have an incredible agenda that won over a record number of voters, the Democrats received 10 million less votes than they did the year before. Their voters told them what they wanted, they were ignored, and now here we are.
Now the Republican Party is dealing with the same problem. Don’t take my word for it, look at these numbers. I run through the litany of issues they face as a party on my TikTok account.
@bencominos I’m not shocked by the Wisconsin Supreme Court outcome, but it’s a matter of Republicans losing and not Democrats winning. #taxtherich #wisconsin #supremecourt #corporategreed ♬ original sound - Ben Cominos

I say all of this to say– once is an accident, twice is a trend, and 3 times is a habit… I’m pretty sure there isn’t even a saying for a forth time.
In order to push back against 1 party rule and get the best representation possible, then the voters need to be met where they are.
We haven’t seen that effort during my entire time out here.
There’s a lot of people that are upset right now with this outcome. There’s plenty of people thrilled with it as well.
The fact of the matter is, we’re all in the same position we were in yesterday. The people put in positions of power need to come through, and we need to expect, and demand, the best out of these people.
And hey, look at the bright side, we get to do it all over again in 7 months.
