Dave Edwards and my tradition unlike any other- 4-10-26
No, not necessarily the golf at The Masters. The fact that I get to watch The Masters instead of actually playing golf this weekend.
O.K., this is a bit of a catch-22! I badly want to play golf, but I also want to watch what is always one of the marquee events in the game. There’s nothing quite like the lush, picture-perfect scene that CBS brings us every year, even if they do pipe in the bird sound effects.
That said, April golf here in Wisconsin is iffy at best. A few courses have opened, we’re still very wet from recent snow and rain, and there’s more coming this weekend. And, it usually means dressing in layers or rain jackets to ward off Mother Nature’s wrath.
So, instead of imitating Xander Schauffele on the links, I will watch Xander and the rest trying hard to get an invite to Butler cabin, with a green jacket you normally wouldn’t get caught dead in awaiting the winner, and an assist from Rory McIlroy in sliding it on.
Cue the birds….
