(OSHKOSH, WI) — The Oshkosh Police Department estimates keeping order at this year’s Spring Pub Crawl cost an additional $45,000 in resources.
That includes overtime for O-P-D officers, U-W Oshkosh Police officers, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and State Patrol troopers that had to deal with 65-calls for service that night. In one incident, a 23-year old Omro man allegedly shot a 17-year old Oshkosh boy during a fight in the John Street area.
Pub Crawl is not sponsored by UWO and does not apply for a special event permit from the city. City Manager Rebecca Grill says they are taking a hard look at how to get things under control.
Pub Crawl started as a day when bars along Main Street in Oshkosh offered special deals. It has grown to include more house parties near the U-W-O campus–where most of the police-involved incidents have taken place.
