FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Criminal charges are filed against a driver accused of leading Fond du Lac County law enforcement on a wild chase that ended with a car going airborne over other vehicles.
Dewayne Stokes is facing counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm by a felon, fleeing an officer and bail jumping.
A Fond du Lac police officer pulled over Stokes for speeding along Interstate 41 on May 9. He allegedly took off, leading officers and sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit through a business parking lot and back onto I-41 before he lost control on an off-ramp and launched his car over traffic traveling along Winnebago Avenue.
Stokes faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
