APPLETON, Wis. — The retirement of Appleton’s long-time finance director has put the completion of both the annual audit and budget behind schedule.
Former finance director Lisa Remiker retired earlier this year after 29 years on the job.
Mayor Jake Woodford says the transition to a new director caused them to miss the state deadline for filing a financial audit………
Woodford adds that he is also not ready to release his proposed 2027 budget……….
Woodford says the transition to new finance director Jennifer Messerschmidt was hampered by the use of old technology and systems to do previous budgets and audits.
