A local man and a doctor are being featured on an episode of a show on Animal Planet.
“Monsters Inside Me” did an episode called “My Lungs Are Rotting” and told the story of an Appleton man with a fungal infection.
Doctor David Brooks is the chief of infectious disease at ThedaCare. He treated the man and was also interviewed for the episode. Doctor Brooks says the man had blastomykosis. He says this case was part of a 2016 outbreak and was traced back to a popular tubing and rafting spot on the Little Wolf River.
The episode premiered on Sunday and is scheduled to air again on December 21st.
