Kimberly-Clark announced plans for layoffs and plant closures yesterday, but a local leader hopes the opposite will happen in the Fox Cities.
Neenah Mayor Dean Kaufert says the company is looking to expand production at some locations, and the Fox Cities is a good place for that. He says the company has invested a lot of money in local facilities, and there’s a trained workforce.
Kimberly-Clark is looking to cut up to 5,500 jobs, and shut down 10 manufacturing plants. The company will expand production at some facilities.
Over 3,200 people work at Kimberly-Clark in the Fox Cities. That’s the third largest workforce for a company in the area.
By 2021, the company believes the plan will save between $500 million and $550 million.
