Neenah’s leader hopes the possibility of higher tax incentives for Kimberly-Clark will lead to a meeting with company officials about the future of the two plants.
The company announced plans last week to shut down the Cold Spring plant in Fox Crossing and the Neenah Nonwovens facility.
Mayor Dean Kaufert would like to see the governor’s office, state and local officials, Kimberly-Clark management, and labor representatives get together to search for solutions.
He pointed to the work that was done to keep Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac, several years ago. He says stakeholders developed an innovative plan.
About 600 people work at the two Kimberly-Clark plants.
Governor Walker says he’ll offer the same deal to the company that Foxconn received.
