Over 650 African American students from northeast Wisconsin are coming together in Kimberly for leadership workshops.
The African Heritage Emerging Student Leaders Institute puts on the event. Co-chair Doctor Sabrina Robins says they also have 200 teachers from seven school districts. She says they want to talk to educators about methods or mindsets that could negatively impact students. She says they’re bringing awareness about how to embrace and understand African American students.
The two-day event also includes a college fair. It started yesterday and continues today. It’s at Liberty Hall in Kimberly.
African Heritage is putting on several more African American centered events this month.
