The emerald ash borer is becoming so widespread in Wisconsin that the entire state will be quarantined.
The state ag department made the move, and it’s effective at the end of the month.
Spokeswoman Donna Gilson says 48 of the 72 counties were already under the rules. She says the others are next to an already quarantined county.
Gilson says they’ve found that the quarantines aren’t a very effective way to stop the spread.
Despite the change, she says they’re still encouraging people not to move firewood within the state.
