A Green Bay congressman says the citizenship question on the U.S. Census is a good idea.
Republican Rep. Mike Gallagher says it’s important to know who is and is not a citizen. He says it’s an appropriate question because it has to do with redistricting and voting.
Rep. Ron Kind is a Democrat from La Crosse. He says it could impact the state negatively. He says it could lead to an “undercount” and effect things like funding.
Kind says the question, requested by the Justice Department, will probably face legal challenges.
