Net neutrality emerged as a hot topic in 2015, when the FCC imposed rules on how Internet Service Providers (ISPs) price and deliver their services. The goal was to ensure fair and open access to the web, but critics argued these rules would undermine incentives for ISPs to invest and innovate. Those rules were repealed by the FCC in 2017. Nonetheless, the controversy continues.
