An award-winning musical is opening in downtown Appleton tonight.
“RENT” is at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center on its 20th anniversary tour.
Spokeswoman Trisha Witt says it’s the same show that opened on Broadway in 1996. She says it’s about seven artists who are trying to make it without selling out. Witt says the story is about friendship and how love is the most important thing in someone’s life.
“RENT” won a Tony Award for Best Musical and also received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
There will be five performances through Sunday.
The last time the show was at the PAC was in 2009.
