An advocacy group is reacting to today’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling on sports gambling.
Justices voted 7-2 to throw out a national law that banned state-authorized sports gambling in places outside of Nevada.
Rose Gruber is the executive director of the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling in Green Bay. She says despite the previous availability of sports betting, more people might try it and get hooked.
A national research firm estimates that in the next five years, 32 states will likely offer sports betting. Lawmakers haven’t made any formal proposals in Wisconsin yet.
