The state justice department is handing out the first round of grants for school safety.
Attorney General Brad Schimel announced $1.3 million will be shared by 20 districts or schools. The only one in the region to get any of the initial funding was Wautoma, at nearly $85,000.
State lawmakers set aside $100 million for safety grants earlier this year.
