The state is pitching in on a major redevelopment project along I-41 in Grand Chute.
WG&R Furniture is building a new store on the former National Envelope factory site on Wisconsin Avenue.
Governor Walker announced a $500,000 grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation this morning.
Grand Chute Town Chair Dave Schowalter says it will help make the project viable. He says originally, the developers were going to use part of the former building, but it didn’t work out. He says there were also issues with asbestos, and it’s been costly.
Schowalter says the furniture store is expected to open sometime next year. He says there are plans for other retail developments on the site after that.
