When drafting the U.S. Constitution, the Framers anticipated the need for changes, so they included Article V laying out methods for proposing and ratifying amendments. This process has been used numerous times, on issues like prohibition, sufferage, and equal protection.
Some Americans feel it is time for another amendment, or possibly many others. The Convention of States Project is working to have Congress call a constitutional convention where changes to the fundamental structure and function of the federal government.
