The nature center is expanding at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay.
Stakeholders gathered this afternoon for a groundbreaking ceremony. The addition to the current building will have more than 12,000 square feet of space, and it’s expected to be finished by next spring.
Director Mike Reed says they’ll have specially designed classrooms for the nature-based four-year-old kindergarten program on the lower level. He says they’ll have a large gathering space for school groups, special events, and community functions on the upper level.
Reed says the Friends of the Wildlife Sanctuary made the project happen by raising about $3 million. He says the Resch Oak Learning and Conservation Center will be on the east side of the current building.
