Neenah’s leader plans to reach out to Bemis Company officials to talk about the possible impacts of yesterday’s sale.
The Neenah-based packaging company was purchased by Amcor.
Mayor Dean Kaufert says it isn’t surprising. He says they’ve downsized their presence in the city. He says hopefully this move strengthens the company. He says they haven’t had a chance to talk to them yet.
Bemis has a facility on Bell Street on the city’s south side. The company was founded in 1858 and it makes packaging for food, consumer products, and items for the health care industry.
Amcor bought the Bemis in a $6.8 billion stock deal.
