A man charged with murdering an Oshkosh man in Iowa argues that he’s protected by Iowa’s “stand your ground” law.
Thirty-eight-year-old Joshua Sadlon was killed in January during a bar fight in Urbandale. Prosecutors charged 49-year-old Rodney Henricksen with second-degree murder, and he’s pleading not guilty.
Police say Sadlon was punched in the face and head several times, and picked up and thrown to the floor.
Henricksen’s attorneys filed a motion, claiming he was defending himself from an intoxicated and aggressive Sadlon. They say Henricksen told three people at the bar that Sadlon had threatened his life.
The law says people don’t have to retreat before using deadly force, if they reasonably think their life is being threatened.
